What's connected to Scalers?

There are 3 locations of hardware scaler modules at DRAGON

  • the Camac crate at the rack of "gamma" electronics
  • the Camac crate at the "heavy ion" electronics
  • the 2nd slot in the VME crate up on the power-supply platform
The rates in the channels of the Camac scalers are available as "strip chart" spectra in the data analysis systems (counts per 2 seconds in Roody, per 1 second in NOVA).

The VME scaler rates are available on DRAGON's EPICS menu via "Diagnostics|Dragon scaler". Note that the channel labels on the front of the scaler module are 0,1,2,3... but the channel labels on the EPICS page are S1,S2,S3,S4...!
