Minutes DRAGON meeting October 30 2007 present: LB, CD, DFOT, PM, UH, CR, GR, DH, MA, CV (recorder) 0) previous Minutes - ok 1) Hardware Mitutoyo: works and can be used. EPICS is fine when slits are moved from outside. No protection cover yet. TUDA guys borrowed DSSSD chiller for the upcoming run as their broke. TUDARGON lid found. Gas target leak: one clamp sprung loose Strong Yale source wasn't shipped back to Peter Parker. Will ship again. To avoid confusion the next time we should take pictures of all the sources we have. Nobody except Jac Caggiano and Leena Leppanen (both left TRIUMF) have seen the Yale source. 2) Upgrade of end station CR, CV, and UH met with Dan Rowbotham to discuss the conceptual design. He will provide drawings by the end of the week. Need input from Cv on MCP detectors and CR on DSSSD mounting. Maschining will take only ~ 1 week. Date for design finished: Christmas, or mid Jannuary at the latest. Installation should happen during the shutdown. Some discussion of whether we should install a small (KF40) turbo pump in the new DSSSD box or not. Alternatively we could pump the box out through a bypass to the final slit box turbo if it has an inlet at the middle section. All money spending should be decided by Dec 1. 3) Solar cell detector Still some strange noise problems. Also some problems with TP32. 4) Na-22 experiment Ann sent a progress report which CR presented to the group. Discussion on if a thin Al layer on top would help to save the target. 5) AOB discussion of EEC proposals and priorities next week (deadline for submission Nov 9).
