Minutes of the DRAGON meeting October 7, 2008 Present: CR (chair), DO, DH (recorder), PM 1. Hardware a) MCPs have been removed from the Final slit box. There was one broken cable (was going to the base). Bits of the broken foil were stuck to the mirror grid of the big MCP; it could be cleaned off using an air duster, taking care not to touch the wires with the duster tube! Grant S. has one complete spare of each mirror type. b) Overnight the FSBox pumped down to 4.7e-7 Torr after Monday's venting for work on the MCPs. c) the triple-alpha source has been installed on the mounting stick upstream of the FSbox. Documentation is in the source safe (for periodic inventory of Pu sources on site). d) the problem with the controller for turbo TP52 has gone away without it being worked on. The borrowed controller will be returned to Vacuum group. e) The snout which holds the entrance window was removed from the Ion Chamber detector. To shift the position of the window by 2 cm downstream it may be easier to have the machine shop make one intermediate extension piece rather than make longer window-mount rings. (The latter would mean scrapping the existing rings with pre-mounted windows.) f) Next job is to install the Si strip detector box (free hanging) and check out the system using the triple-alpha source. 2. Preparation for Na-22 implantation Safety group surveyed the Collection station for activity. There still was Na-22, but nothing new from the recent Actinide Target test with a UO target. 3. EPICS Rod Nussbaumer has promised to complete before November 10th: adding the DRAGON Attenuator to EPICS control; providing smoothed slit current readings. Not covered: roughing valve logic (M.Leross?); EPICS names for the LN2 trap level lights; Mitutoyo readout; Scaling page. 4. EEC a) A progress report on 23Mg(p,g) will be needed b) New proposals expected for: another implanted 26Al target for (n,p) and (n,alpha) experiments; D(26Al,p) ; possibly 3He(4He,g)7Be Meeting ended at 14:40
