June 5th Dragon Minutes

XSLITC:
(DO) Calibration can be zeroed on Mitutoyos.  There is hysteresis in moving the slits: 
stepping motor turns about 1/8 rev in a new direction before the actuator begins to move. 
This is equivalent to about 0.4mm.  In addition there is a similar backlash between the 
actuator and the Mitutoyo readback, due to flex in the actuator tube.  Building a different 
mount to reduce in half, or better.  Setting width and position in EPICS is fine except 
for the motor-actuator hysteresis: should set Offset to -0.5mm in EPICS slit control of 
XSLITC to be centred according to optical survey.

Alpha Tests:
(AG, MJ) Slowly coming along.  Some issues with cooling system and noise.  Counts are a few 
higher than Chris had previously (~23/s at peak with 8mm aperture removed, mass slits 3mm).  
(DO) Need a fix for the ethanol refrigerator.  Ethanol seems to be evaporating leaving only 
water, leading to ice.

Draft paper Ca-40:
(CV)Not all authors have a copy of the paper yet.  Some comments back.  This will be discussed 
next week

Ion chamber:
(CV) Have one thick mylar window available and can get a foil.

Solar Cells:
Cable length 6ft has been specified to the Electronics Shop.  If more needed can use ribbon 
cable.

SIMION:
(AG) Nothing done yet.

Vibrating Wire:
(MJ) Have a concept for mounting the ends of the wire with x-y motion, without having to 
dismantle separator.  Everywhere there is a BCM can do this.  In next 10 days can do testing.

Other Business:
Na-22: Cyropump with loose activity.   Aim to be able to ship it to Seattle within a month.
