Minutes of the dragon meeting on june 4th, 2002. Present: Chris W., Jenn F., Joel R., Don H., Dave H., Mohan C., Art O., Allison L., Sabine E., Lothar B., Alan C., Sean B., Dave O., Dario G. Recorder: Michael L. 1. Minutes from previous metting adopted. 2. Barcelona highlights were presented by Art O., and Barcelona was highly recommended. 3. Status of analysis Sean B. gave a brief review of his preliminary data analysis on the 212 KeV/u data set. The possibility of using some of the data runs which had no FC4 reading is good. This will potentially be done by using previous runs which had FC4 readings and comparing the elastics from these runs with the runs with no FC4 readings. Sean will look into this. Sabine E. is working on analysis of the stable beam commissioning runs. Dave H. showed a plot of Elastics/beta/pressure vs beam energy for the 822 KeV/u data, Sabine E. had a similar plot which showed that the elastics, after a dip, rose with increasing beam energy which is puzzling. This plot was shown with the intention by Dave H that we might have elastic scattering data to present in addition to the radiative capture cross sections. Joel R. showed his progress on the data analysis of the verification of the energy scale near 822. This was done by an independent method of measuring the time from the DTL to the target (not corrected for gamma time to detector: assumed negligeable). This data showed that there may be phase slippage in the r.f. phase between different run periods (nov, may and april). Joel will talk to Bob Laxdal and will try to resolve this issue. In the near future Dave H. will put in a stable beam request for june and it was agreed that the top priorities were: to test the MCP, confirm leaky-beam rates at 360 and 480 keV/u with 21Ne, test mis-tune with Q10 at double strength, re-try to measure beam energy by time-of-flight, do an MD1 energy calibration on the lowest-energy 24Mg+p resonance. Jenn F. mentioned a web interface for intra-group messaging which might be useful for state-of-the-experiment postings. Art O. has experimence with a different program used by TWIST. Jenn will look into these options further. No records broken today (meeting lasted 75+ minutes).
