Hi, Dave. Here are the draft minutes for distribution. I already sent them to D'Auria since herequested them, but I'm not sure who's doing the distribution. I'll have to resend the figures, I guess. Present: D'Auria, Chen, Machule, Hutcheon, Lamey, Chatterjee, Greife, Giggliotti, Hussein, Ottewell, Fallis, Rogers, Olin(recorder) Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The spare Leybold pump discussed in them is already in service replacing our pump with a damaged coupler. MCP tests: Michael Lamey reported on the recent tests using stable beam. The conditions were 360 keV/u, no gas, "leaky beam" ie tuned for recoils. The problems with the position signal has been resolved - it was a DC offset in the electronics. The mirror voltage has been chosen for optimum efficiency. Efficiency of the MCP for particles hitting the strip detector is ~99%. The timing peak observed was still double peaked - separation of 5ns abd ~2ns wide structures (see attachment). There was discussion of whether this could arise from different strip timings. Whether this double peak persists using attenuated beam rather than leaky beam should be tested. Gamma efficiency: Dario Gigliotti reported on his recent measurement of the efficiency at 511KeV. The data was taken at a rather high rate live time was about 12%, which may lead to uncertainties. The dip structure just at the first pumping tube was still observed, and it appears also in most of the simulations now. The early simulation showing no dip is under review. Nuclei in the Cosmos Meeting: John D'Auria reported on the program. It appeared there was more interest in r-process for SN TNR than for rp process. A page of reactions discussed interesting to DRAGON is appended. -- *********************************************************** Art Olin 4004 Wesbrook Mall Senior Research Scientist Vancouver BC V6T 2A3 TRIUMF CANADA Adjunct Professor work phone: (604)222 7349 Dept of Physics and Astronomy home phone: (604)222 0650 University of Victoria fax:(604)222 1074 ***********************************************************
