Minutes 2005-07-12 begin 10:45 present DH,TK,HC,LF,BW,AP,LE,JP,MT,JDA,AL,JC,RL,AC,AO,DFOT,AH,MH,BG,CV (recorder) 0) after run party: no alcohol is allowed on site any more (without an authorized, outside catering firm)....breaking a 30-year tradition... 1) Hardware: MD1 power supply problem after switching off at the end of the run Q3 is leaking mass slits need some safety gas target is warming up (Helium will be used if the TUDA run needs gas in) Ge detector will be refilled until calibration measurements are finished HC (with help from LF) will calibrate Ge, NaIs and DSSSD it is planned to measure the dead layer of the DSSSDs again using the box in the detector lab. AO and AH will look after the electronics. TUDA's 3alpha source will be used for that. 2) End of 26gAl run (E989): CR/AP presented analysis of runs with old DSSSD only AP: ET^2 plot (attachment 1) leaky beam used as calibration for mass 26 (E from DSSSD, T from local TOF), good recoil events show up at mass 27.2 CR: probabiltiy analysis (similar to DH's) for DSSSD energy a exponetial tail is used, for recoils a gaussian distribution at the position from energy loss calculation in gas, MCP foil and dead layer x-distribution: for recoils a gaussian shape around the center whereas leaky beam shows up on left side attachment 2: black dots big TOF window for background, red dots for small TOF window where the recoils are expected good events should be on the bottom right side half-height events in DSSSD E not used at the moment DH: leading gamma E distribution can give additional discrimination, we need GEANT simulation for spilled 26Na we have 2 +/- 1 good events after the energy change to 199 keV/u, "events look more centered at the gas target..." CR will ask for additional beam time (~3 weeks) in fall a report should be ready in September some discussion about 26Na reduction to reduce spill at target tuning beam: better focus at the target instead of parallel beam beam skimmer (slits or iris aperture) at a focus point upstream (FC4 position) larger entrance aperture of gas cell end of July we should decide what strategy we use for the next run 3) E1027 Implantation of 22Na: JC showed slide show (attachment 3) only 50% transmission of both stable 23Na and 22Na + less than 1 nA of 22Na allowed only to make a ~10 uC target samples are still in the implantation station quoted beam intensity was 25 nA, but maybe measured with bias at FC off !? 4) Upcoming runs: TUDA 12C + 12C run (E1031): requires precise beam energy measurement - can be done at DRAGON using MD1 energy range 6.6 to 8 MeV, 60 keV/u per energy change 16O + 12C (E1022 Strassburg people) solid target ladder, they provide man power, only some local help needed 40Ca (E1024) a few days in August 18-21 and one week in September 15-19 (12/13 40Ca dev.) Michael Paul from Israel and Toni Wallner from Vienna plan to come for the September run a minor modification of the charge state booster is necessary to protect the thin CSB foil when they are in out position 5) AOB EEC was in general happy with E995 (alternate prodution of radionuclides) Beam request for fall: 19Ne - possible candidate for FEBIAD ion source test in December (for DRAGON and TUDA) 26gAl - 3 weeks 22Na - cont. of implantation 40Ca - phase II (if approved by EEC) 27Si - charge state distribution for E989 BW presented work on HVcalib, MCP TAC time vs. DSSSD strip calibration, advances in DRAGON ROOT TREE structure (Attachement 4) still some photos for the homepage missing, should be finish today and sent to MT MT, AO are setting up alternative elog for comunication of data evaluation end of meeting 11:50
