Electrician is working on this task. Controls group are still looking into how they are to be interfaced to computer (EPICS) control.' - fourth statement should read: 'DH - reports that we will still need to determine what the colour-coding of the camera's file format is' - last statement, last line: replace done with had 2) Meeting with Hendrik Schatz - JDA reported that meeting with Hendrik Schatz to discuss 15O(a,g)19Ne may be moved up to 2pm. He is also giving talks at UBC (4pm Thursday) and SFU (3.30pm Friday). 3) Status Reports - DH reported that DC cables connected to MD2 and almost completed for MD1. All cabling should be completed by the end of the week. There are no anticipated problems with the EPICS interface - JDA asked if there was a deadline w.r.t beamtime for completion of all work. DH responded that mid February would be earliest possible deadline. - DO reported on the installation of new software for the CCD. There were however problems with the USB connection and work is still progressing. - DH reported that a jig will be needed to position the beam profile monitor. - DH stated that work is still continuing on a mechanism for a solid target and also on the new FC. - AO reported on the DAQ is running on ISDAQ04. There is a bug which causes the analyser to crash for high rates of heavy ions and this needs Pierre's help to fix. More details will be presented next week. It is planned to install FE EPICS this week. - CN reported that the basic structure of the DRAGON website is in place but more content is needed. - DH emphasised the need to include date, author and description on all documents on website. Also the website should be made accessible to all of DRAGON. - AO suggested having a password on midas for run control - There was a discussion of methods for calibrating absolute intensity of 6MeV gammas. DG thought that there was high and low energy gammas from the 13C(a,n)16O source - will check this out. DH suggested using the 16O(a,g)20Ne reaction (0+ state - 4-5MeV gammas) and using the separator to produce tagged gammas. - CW reported on the status of cooling the DSSSD on DRAGON. See attached. JDA noted that the apparent problem with the Peltier (affects resolution of 'good' detectors) was not previously known. DH suggested running without cooling until a detector becomes damaged and only then use the cooling system. 4) Beam Schedule - DRAGON assigned 5 weeks of running starting April 1st 2003. Discussion followed on the need to run for so long continuously. - LB stated that in the case of the 12C(a,g) everything depended on the beam intensity. The need to replace the BGO array with germanium detectors (from Notre Dame) was discussed. Conclusion was to determine availability of germaniums and run initially with BGO to determine resolution. - JDA raised issue of requesting a 13C beam for (p,g) study of background/beam contamination of 13N(p,g) measurement which is Mike Lamey's thesis. See attached for details. The key resonance lies at 526keV in the centre of mass. However, direct component is also of importance and has not been measured. Will need to scan excitation function with good statistics and determine absolute cross section. The 13C(p,g) reaction has a resonance at Ecm = 517keV (though gamma has 8 MeV rather than 5 MeV as in 13N case). JDA would like to measure background with 13C(p,g) and ion chamber for recoil ID. Should require approximately 1 week running. - JDA also pointed out that UG would like time to test ion chamber for upcoming 19Ne(p,g) study. - DH would like some stable beamtime to perform some optics tests/calibrations.
