DRAGON meeting minutes, January 8 2002 Present: JR, DG, SE, DH,AO *,PJ, SB, LB, MC (*recorder) Minutes: With Don Hunter on leave for 4 months to teach at Langara, it was decided over some protest to rotate the minutes among the participants. It was suggested that an AGORA-type forum might be a useful alternative, but someone would need to be identified to implement it. Then each contributor would post a report in lieu of minutes. Installation: - MCP will be installed for stable beam tests - DAQ will migrate to isdac04 from midmes01. Midmes01 to be retained to run analysis code. Option to migrate all analysis code to the isdaq cluster met some opposition. -Dragon output of ISAC RF is installed. Stable beam optics run (1 week starting Jan 14):(SE and DH) -Uses FC's and wobbler - no DAQ. -An EPICS routine will be used to automate scanning and recording of slit currents. -ED1 and ED2 will be adjusted to simulate leaky beam conditions. - Optics runs near 200 KeV/u and 1 MeV/u. Feb Stable Beam runs: (SE) -Measure stable resonances with 20Ne, 24Mg beams. -Possibly check inconsistant point on charge changing reactions (O16 .5 MeV/u.) 212 KeV Analysis:JR (see attached figs) -How to run the analyser. -Paw kumac for effective display. -Time stamp ( 1 sec) added to data. -Analysis of November data: - Important cuts on Gamma energy, gamma time -rf time, heavy ion energy and TOF. -A lower gamma threshold would have been desireable. - -Hardware problem causing lost events was identified. If the gamma memory filled and was read out when there were no events in the HI memory, the HI TDC was paralyzed, leading to event loss when the elastics rate is very low. Not a problem in the data analysed. -Have to resolve the energy discrepancy. 860 KeV Analysis: (SE) -Analysis will be delayed because of stable beam running. Additional effort is required. -Study of the gamma efficiency vs position is required. Full simulation is not necesary. - Run summary on dragon account on tno01. Conferences: Dario will attend WRNC. Next meeting: Reports from Shawn and Dario.
