DRAGON Group minutes 26 Feb 2008 Present: PM, GR, CV, CR, CD, DH, LB, UH (rec) 1) Workshop jobs/upgrade * workshop almost finished everything * missing: - the flange between the IC and the gate valve cracked, PM found new parts, but they need to be altered - DSSSD box is finished, but the holes in the hinges are still missing - the o-ring part on the back of the DSSSD box was not polished, the box needs to be taken back to the workshop - G10 parts still missing - still need Turbopump - wheels on IC should be anodised (instead of the duct tape which is currently used), PM will get that done - o-rings are needed for the DSSSD box, possibly non-standard * beamlines - final slit box is aligned - we should get the electrician in as soon as beamlines is finalised 2) 22Na * CR found a drawing of the target ladder, but it is suspected that it is not the currently used one, Seattle will check the ladder they are using * implantation at 20keV was tested and was clearly worse than 30keV - the 30keV should be redone to check for reproducibility and reasons for the disagreement 3) Mesh attenuator * CR checked with Goodfellow - CuNi electroplated would cost ~400$ - just Ni or Cu, very pure - buy two different wires for tests * the heating for 1nA beam is 23-25°C above room temperature per cable * wire thickness of about 15 microns * layer meshes starting with thicker wires going to thinner ones 4) 19Ne * not much hope for a good astrophysical motivation * cf Elog entry * leave it for now 5) Collaboration with CIAE on 33S * CIAE will buy strip detectors * they will send two or three people over for the run * they will do a parallel analysis * Anuj remains first author 6) AOB * we should buy a new DSSSD (in addition to the CIAE one) - Shark will get a new one (~100nm deadlayer) in summer, we might test that one * BGO start-up: cf elog * LE, CV and UH rearranged the tail end electronics, the RAL-crate with the amps is now in the rack * LB will be gone for 3 weeks * next weeks agenda: we should discuss the detectors/electronics needed for the upcoming runs
