DRAGON minutes, Th, Feb. 12, 2008

Meeting begins at 14:00

Present: DO, DH, CD, LB, PM, UH, CR, CV, GR (recorder)

1. Status of DRAGON/Hardware/Workshop jobs (CR)
  - Side plates are finished
  - Cover plate finished
  - New MCP top plate is finished but w/o feedthroughs
  - See attachment "timeline.txt".

2. Discussion of work required/timeline for upgrade (CR)
  - DSSSD out
  - MCP out
  - Move ion chamber to a safe place. Mark the last position!
  - Can't be moved w/o permission to disconnect electricity
  - Chris will provide a plan next Monday.
  - DO: When is the gate valve needed? Before vacuum testing.

3. Discussion of annual activities/schedule
  - CR made a 2008 year plan. See attachment "Dragon2008.pdf".
  - We still need a 21Na beam for the 23Mg run beta calibration
  - DH: Maybe some time in Sept. for DRAGON, stable beam (31P)?
    LB: Needed for TACTIC
  - CR: Need to ask Uwe what students are available for the 23Mg run.
  - Will send an email asking everybody for availability

4. A.O.B
  - 22Na grant is being considered, looks positive
  - CR Still doing simulations for the mesh.
    With 10 foils we should get the attenuation we need.
    So far, it will not screw the acceptance by elastics.
  - DH was talking with Pierre and Marek. With Ca-O oxide target 30P would
    probably be the dominant species. Otherwise, we need radioactive 32P
    for testing. Could be produced at TRIUMF's fast neutron source
  - We need to upgrade our website. (Some people suggest it...)
